General Duties: The Lift Attendant’s primary duties include ensuring that all guests have a valid lift ticket, assisting properly ticketed guests in loading and unloading ski lifts while maintaining safe conditions in and around lift terminals, setting up and taking down corrals, and ensuring positive guest relations with each rider. All team members must be on constant alert for any unsafe conditions and work behaviors. This will involve, but not be limited to, periodic inspections of work and public areas. Follow up notification will be done to correct the condition or practice at the earliest possible opportunity.
Essential Responsibilities:

Check each guest for proper ticket/season pass by use of a ticket scanner

Operate lift, load/unload passengers to/from lift in a safe and efficient manner

Build corrals using diagrams according to predicted skier visits and tear corrals down each evening as directed

Direct corral traffic as needed

Always keep the corral and terminal area clean and orderly to promote safety

Perform snow maintenance on ramps, terminal area, corral, and other areas as needed

Perform daily lift inspections

Promote positive guest relations with riders and co-workers

Serve as lift operator as needed

Gain thorough understanding of all aspects of Ski Big Bear to function as an information source for guests

Ask questions of supervisor and/or co-workers for clarification of procedures or knowledge

Meets company’s requirements for appearance, attendance, and punctuality

Required to be in uniform daily

Follow and comply with OSHA standards as defined by company policy and procedures
-
Report any injury and/or unsafe working conditions to the operator, supervisor, or manager ASAP
Qualifications:
-
Minimum two years of high school, trade school or equivalent
-
One year’s experience working with the public/guest relations, preferred
-
Ability to speak clearly and communicate thoroughly with customers and co-workers
-
Ability to drive/travel or otherwise get to work even in wintry conditions

Willingness to work holidays, night skiing shifts and weekends as requested by the Manager

Ability to provide accurate information and maintain a good attitude during stressful situations

Must be at least 18 years of age to operate equipment
-
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
-
Ability to work while standing for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours
-
Ability to engage in repetitive body motion involving upper body torque during the loading of guests in chairs and shoveling snow at loading and unloading stations

Ability to dress appropriately and work under varying weather conditions
Job Relationships:

Reports to: Lift Managers, Supervisors, and Operator

Interrelationships: Works closely and communicates effectively with all Lift and Mountain Operations department employees, Ski School, Patrol, Guests, and other mountain personnel
